Locative Media Project

The locative media project used my created audio clips to manufacture an environment around them. I decided to use the audio of excerpts from Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek, and layer them on top of the ambient noise clips. Doing this shortened the video, but also gave more meaning and context to the words that I was saying, and the stock footage being presented in front of the viewer. The goal was to seem almost like a lecturer, describing what aspects of business are beneficial to the end consumer. The ambient audio clips also make it seem like there’s action going on around me. The ambient noises of cars and people talking give it that feel.

We looked at space differently in this class than I have previously. It’s not common to record an audio clip and not know where it came from and the environment around it. Using the stock footage successfully puts the audio clips into a different space, making me think differently about space and time in relation to video creation.
