This project made me think not only about the content of the photos, but the meaning behind them. Using social media allowed me to take images not revealing the full context. I was able to tell a story through the text on the screen, rather than just the images themselves.
The drawing contrasts the images to try to explain the feelings associated with the social media posts. Because the discussion is regarding work/life balance, I wanted to describe my version of getting away from school. In this case, it’s skiing. With school being dark and gloomy, skiing had to be fun and light. Even though I enjoy school overall, it had to be drawn as a negative emotion to juxtapose the positive emotion.
