Evidence Assignment
For this assignment, I wanted to showcase the differences between the “hustle-and-bustle” that occurs in Boulder, to the laidback and rather simple lifestyle that our neighbors in Gold Hill face. The drive up is windy, narrow, and muddy, but is rather fun considering how close it is. After 30 minutes, I arrive in a quiet neighborhood with no one in sight. No stores seem to be open besides the general store, and the only person I made contact with was a gentleman walking his two dogs. Very nice guy.
The pictures themselves speak volumes about the culture in Gold Hill. It feels like such a mining town with roots going back centuries. It almost feels like going back in time with all of the old cars, somewhat dilapidated homes, and cute stores. The roads have no infrastructure; everything is muddy and wet. But there seems to be a sort of peace that goes with living there. I liked showcasing the imperfections through these pictures, but they came out so aesthetically pleasing. The element of having this town in the middle of this small valley goes to show the differences in how people live, and how we can forget our roots as a nation.
